Tanzanian bongo flava songstress Zuchu has announced her intention to file a lawsuit against Wasafi FM and her longtime music collaborator, Diamond Platnumz.

The singer’s decision follows a segment aired on Wasafi FM – Diamond’s media entity- where the hosts mocked her, claiming that the ‘Naringa’ hitmaker was desperate and pressuring Diamond to marry her.

The segment, which Zuchu described as demeaning, seems to have been the final straw in what she says is a series of humiliations.

In a highly emotional post shared on her Instagram Stories on the night of Thursday, January 16, 2025, Zuchu poured out her frustration.

She revealed that this was not the first time Wasafi FM had targeted her, but the ridicule had reached an unbearable peak.

She vowed to sue the media station and its CEO, Diamond, even though she acknowledged their influence and power might sway the verdict. Nonetheless, Zuchu stated that she could no longer let the matter slide.

In a video that Zuchu shared on her Instagram Stories—originally posted on Wasafi FM’s official pages—a presenter named Juma is heard making remarks about Zuchu’s personal life.

Juma claimed that Zuchu had been single for a long time, which according to him was the reason why she was pressuring Diamond to marry her.

The remarks were made during a segment featuring Ricardo Momo, Diamond’s brother and a fellow presenter at Wasafi FM.

While discussing the lives of the two lovebirds, the hosts veered into a heated debate about Zuchu and Diamond’s relationship.

At one point, Juma directly asked Momo to shed light on the dynamics of the couple’s relationship, knowing Momo’s reputation as a staunch advocate for loyalty in love.

The conversation spiralled into a sharp critique, with the presenters insinuating that marriage might not align with Diamond’s current priorities, while Zuchu, on the other hand, was allegedly pressuring him relentlessly to walk down the aisle.

Mental health

In another section of her impassioned statement, Zuchu disclosed that the constant trolling had taken a toll on her mental health.

The singer, who recently performed in Nairobi, lamented that the radio hosts’ deliberate choice to discuss her in a negative light was an intentional attack on her character.

She revealed that she had previously addressed the issue with Diamond, but instead of resolving it, he had exacerbated her distress.

Zuchu accused Diamond of attempting to tarnish her reputation, emphasizing that no other Tanzanian media outlet had ever harassed her as Wasafi FM had.
