Ambrose Rachier, has been re-elected as the chairman of Kenya’s record national football champions Gor Mahia for a fifth consecutive term.
In the elections conducted on Sunday by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) at Nyayo National Stadium Basketball Gymnasium, Rachier, who has been at the helm of the club since 2008, triumphed with 658 votes against his only competitor in the race the outgoing treasurer Dolfina Odhiambo who garnered 456 votes.
Former treasurer Sally Bolo was elected the club’s new vice chairman with 610 votes, defeating Victor Omondi who bagged 506 votes.
Katani Secondary School Principal Nicanor Arum was elected the club’s new secretary general with 582 votes ahead of the incumbent, Sam Ochola, who secured 501 votes.
Gerphas Ogolla was elected honorary treasurer with 559 votes, defeating Philip Nyakwana who got 524 votes.
Gor’s previous Constitution had no term limits, allowing the office holders to run for more than two terms.
Since the club’s 2019 Constitution stipulates that one can only serve two four-year terms upon re-election, this will be Rachier’s final term at the helm of the club.
