A new era is on the horizon as the Fresh NOCK lineup, led by Kenya Judo Federation President Shadrack Maluki, prepares for the upcoming National Olympic Committee of Kenya (NOCK) elections. With just days to go, the team is gathering momentum and positioning itself for a possible victory.

The election day, set for April 24, 2025, is fast approaching, and the Maluki-led team continues to attract growing support for their candidacies. The Fresh NOCK team, which is gaining widespread backing, is confident of a win as the race intensifies.

The lineup includes Shadrack Maluki, who is vying for the president’s seat, Athletics Kenya Youth Development Director Barnaba Korir, who is running for First Vice President, and Kenya Table Tennis Association President Andrew Mudibo, who is contesting the Secretary General position.

Preliminary electoral projections show the Maluki team leading, with most federations rallying behind their bid. Football Kenya Federation (FKF), which had initially supported the Francis Mutuku-led group, has now shifted allegiance. FKF, which has not fielded a candidate in either camp, is now backing Maluki and his team, with Hussein Mohammed playing a significant role in this support. Out of the 29 votes expected to be cast on Thursday next week, Team Fresh NOCK has already secured 18 votes from various federations.

NOCK elections are a delicate political balancing act. Each federation has a voting delegate and an accompanying delegate, both of whom must sign the federation’s endorsement for the candidates they support.

In the race for Second Deputy President, Kenya Hockey Union President Lt. Col. (Rtd) Nahashon Randiek is contesting, while Francis Karugu from Softball is seeking the position of Assistant Secretary General.

Fred Chege from Fencing is eyeing the position of NOC-K Treasurer, with Charles Mose from the Kenya Cycling Federation seeking to deputize him.

In the race for the Women’s Representative seat, Waweru Mududa from the Kenya Volleyball Federation has been endorsed to run, while the committee member slots are being contested by Kenya Rugby Union Chairman Sasha Mutai, Jocyline Nyambura of Triathlon, and Major (Ret.) Suleiman Sumba from Taekwondo.

Double Olympic Marathon Champion Eliud Kipchoge has been nominated as the Male Athletes’ Representative. At the same time, Grace Adhiambo of the Kenya Lionesses Rugby Team is set to be the Female Athletes’ Representative.

With over 18 federations backing the Maluki team ahead of the elections, the team has stepped up its lobbying efforts to secure additional votes.
