The home school team showed their class in the second tournament in a row to win the second edition of the NCBA Interschools Golf Tournament at the Windsor Golf and Country hotel on Friday afternoon.

Kanana Muthomi was in fine form as she shot three under par 69 to lead her teammates to the top prize in the 13-14 years old category. She played level par 36 in the front nine and 33 in the back nine, boosted by an impressive six birdies.

In second place in the category was Rosslyn Academy led by siblings Aidan Gachora and Ashley Gachora, as well as Nawenxuan Li and Nawembo Li. Aidan led the way with a score of 80 with Ashley playing 82. Nawenxuan had a score of 84 with Nawembo finishing the day with a score of 94.

The 15-18 years category was won by Homeschool D with an overall score of ten over par 82.  Junaid Manji picked three birdies as he played one over par 73. Yuvral Rajput was also in good form to return a score of 74.   Hetansh Shah returned a score of 79 while Ishan Simani played 88.

Braeside Garden Estate finished in second position with Braeburn finishing third. Despite a spirited efoort by Simaloi Mbeya and Cherono Kipkurui, they both returned a score of 85 as Braeside Lavington finished fourth.

“Today the course was hard. The second nine was playing hard but the first nine was ok. I think I could have played better but i’m ok with my score. I aim to improve,” said Simaloi.

Arja Arora, playing for the International school of Kenya returned a score of 108 as his school finished joint fifth.

“I had a few pars and then a few bogies, so overall I think I played well but there is still a lot of work to do especially on my chipping,” he explained.

The next tournament for the junior golfers is the NCBA US Kids Golf Spring Local Tour Championship event on the 25th of May at the Muthaiga golf Club.
