Global Afropop sensation Yemi Alade has released “My Padi”, a brand-new single produced by 9Fingers – out via Effyzzie Music and available to stream worldwide. The Highlife/Afrobeats single is a breath of fresh air, thanks to its sweet traditional instrumentation and groove.
Starting off as a love song, “My Padi” quickly evolved during its creation into a heartfelt tribute to friendship, loyalty and mutual respect. Ahead of the release Yemi Alade says, “This song started as a love song, but by the end of the session, it became about love, respect and dedication to a friend you consider family—aka my padi,” adding, “The instrumentation is rooted in a very traditional sound from the East of Nigeria. Some people call it ‘oghene’ (hypnotic music that makes you dance).”
