Nairobi City County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Talent, Skills Development and Care Brian Mulama , has today, Friday March 7, 2025 been recognized as the best performing CECM in Kenya.

Mulama was recognized and awarded for topping the rankings in the 2025 Pollster rankings awards gala held at Ciala Resort in Kisumu City in an event that was graced by leaders from various levels of government among them, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), Members of the National Assembly, Senators, CECMs, Counties Chief Officers among other guests

Mulama, upon being ranked the best CECM by pollster, expressed his joy at the recognition noting that this serves an inspiration and fuel the fire of servant leadership. Mulama was honored to pick his award as the best CECM as well as giving remarks on behalf of the Nairobi CECMs and Chief Officers.

Mulama acknowledged the support he has received from the Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja over the last two years serving in the Nairobi City County government noting that the Nairobi County boss has accorded him support and room to perform his roles and functions to his best abilities.

The Talent, Skills Development and Care in the Nairobi City administration includes Early Childhood and Education, Social Services, Youth, Talent and Sports, which means CECM Mulama is in charge of working with the upcoming generation in a space where future leaders, innovators, and game-changers are molded.

In his remarks, Mulama quoted his boss Governor Johnson Sakaja’s slogan of “Lazima iWork” as his biggest driver into ensuring that systems work and services are delivered at all times urging the rest of the counties in the country to adopt a similar approach to service delivery.

“It is with immense gratitude that I receive this prestigious award. An award meant not just to recognize, but to inspire and fuel the fire of servant leadership in our beloved country, Kenya. On behalf of Nairobi City County, allow me to echo the words of my boss, H.E Governor Sakaja Johnson—Lazima iWork! Now, that’s not just a slogan; it’s a way of life. It means we push forward, we thrive, and we deliver, even when the odds are stacked against us. And if you ask me, that’s exactly what leadership is about—rolling up our sleeves, getting the job done, and leaving things better than we found them,” Mulama said in his acceptable address at the gala.

In a span of two years, Mulama has achieved milestones under the guidance of the Governor Sakaja led administration which includes the building and rehabilitation of seven Stadiums namely Woodley, Joe Kadenge (formerly City Stadium), Mwiki Stadium, Kihumbuni, Dessah in Eastleigh and Dandora Stadium which is currently the only stadium in Nairobi that is hosting the Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches in the city. In the education sector, under Mulama, the Sakaja administration has overseen the disbursement of bursaries worth 1.2 Billion to school going students.

“Let us be honest, no leader succeeds alone. My boss, Governor Sakaja, gives me the room to run my race, and I’m lucky to have a team that believes in the mission as much as I do. This win is not just mine, it’s ours,” Mulama said.

“I also want to give a special shout-out to independent research institutions like Pollster. You keep us in check, ensuring that public institutions remain accountable, transparent, and driven by data rather than guesswork. You are the referees in this great game of governance, making sure we don’t just talk the talk but walk the walk,” Mulama added.

“I promise you one thing, I am not slowing down. If anything, this just turned up the volume. I go back more motivated than ever to deliver, disrupt, and do even better than before. So, don’t be surprised if I show up here again, picking up yet another award because, my friends, excellence is addictive,” Mulama concluded.
