George Oduor  a bodyguard of former Prime Minister  Raila Odinga is dead.

According to sources, he died at a city hospital on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2025 evening.

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai mourned Oduor as a mentor.

“Rest In peace my brother. I will miss your wise counsel and guidance,” Alai said in a post on X.

“You were more than an aide to Baba. You offered to us brotherly advice and sought to mentor us.”

ODM director of communications Philip Etale expressed disbelief over the news.

“This is one man who stood by me at all cost. I have lost a friend. Big bro. Rest easy George. Wah!”

Oduor has been Raila’s personal bodyguard of many years, dating as far back as 1994.

He reportedly joined Raila’s team after the death of Jaramogi in 1994.

Little is known to the public about his family as Oduor, despite his job according him limelight, seldom spoke.

Oduor is also said to have been a police reservist and attended VIP protection training locally and internationally.

In some of the pictures doing rounds on social media, Oduor is seen in 1994 during the funeral service of Jaramogi.

In another, he is standing next to the hearse carrying the casket of Raila’s father draped in Ford Kenya flag.

A close friend said Oduor grew up in Kaloleni in Nairobi’s Eastlands area.

“He was keen on fitness training and weightlifting,” the friend told the Star.

“He initially offered his services to Raila’a father, Mzee Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.”
