Mumias East Member of Parliament Peter Salasya has lashed out on Football Kenya Federation (FKF) leadership over an incident where the MP was assaulted by goons as he attended the FIFA World Cup qualifier match between Kenya and Gabon at Nyayo Stadium on Sunday.
The lawmaker was physically assaulted by goons who attacked him reigning blows. Videos shared online showed Salasya being hit on the head with a bucked as tens of youths were seen roughing him up and forcing him out of the stadium.
In a swift rejoinder, Salasya has claimed that he was assaulted by planned Gon’s who were working as stewards for FKF during the match saying that his attackers were well planned in advance to execute the attack on him.
“All guys in green reflectors were planned strategically to deal with me in the name of stewards plus some few Football Kenya Federation (officials ). You are to be blamed of what happened, the reason you can’t organise football in this country. You put one community in the name of stewards as goons only to harass leaders from other communities who doesn’t subscribe to their ideology. Big shame to FKF,” Salasya wrote on his Facebook page.
The outspoken MP claimed that seen trying to speak to him were just out to hand him over to the other goons who had been organized by FKF in what he noted is an escalation of political intolerance following his outbursts against opposition leaders Raila Odinga and his association with the Kenya Kwanza government.
“They allowed Raila goons to be like stewards .I marked all of them from the beginning. All those you are seeing were harassing me, their work was to hand me over to other goons,”He added
Salasya was forced to leave the stadium after the rowdy incident where he faced physical assault and has lamented that the stewards employed by FKF were strategically hired to assault him and other leaders who are seen as anti government and who seem to not support the FKF leadership led by Hussein Mohammed.
During the match, disorganization was witnessed as people from the federation who had hoarded match tickets caused confusion selling tickets at hiked prices at different locations around the stadium.
